A Waco Census ambassador is a partner, individual or organization that helps ensure everyone in Waco and McLennan County is accurately represented in the 2020 Census. When you become a Waco Census Ambassador, you join a local and national network of individuals and organizations that are all educating households about the impact of the Census and encouraging them to respond.
Becoming a Waco Census Ambassador is not a one-size-fits-all approach. As a Waco Census Ambassador, you can do as little or as much as you are willing and able. We will provide you with tools such as talking points, sample social media posts, flyers and promotional items to integrate into the in-person and print communications you are already engaging in with your audiences on a daily basis.
You can also choose to hold events, such as Census awareness parties or gatherings and Census count locations. Please contact Census2020@wacotx.gov for more information about hosting an event or count location.
A complete and accurate Census count in 2020 means more accurate population counts and demographics for the next ten years, which means your business or organization can make stronger decisions about where to direct its attention and resources.
State and local funds are also often distributed based on population, so a complete count ensures Waco and McLennan County receive the funding needed to continue providing vital resources toward public health, education and infrastructure.
We provide talking points, fact sheets, handouts, posters, stickers, social media posts, videos, mapping tools and more to support your outreach. Many of these items can be found in the Waco Census Outreach Toolkit that is updated frequently. We are also able to provide customized materials on request. Please contact awucher@wacofoundation.org to discuss your needs.
If you choose to hold an event, such as a Census awareness party or gathering or a Census count location, we will provide printed Census materials and banners and, in some cases, financial assistance for food, paper goods or other needs. Please contact Census2020@wacotx.gov to host a Census event or count location.
