The Division of the City of Waco is responsible for the investigation and resolution of complaints related to on-site sewer facilities (septic systems). The OSSF program is comprehensive in nature, aiming to eliminate and prevent health hazards and pollution. Staff members strive to achieve this goal by regulating, authorizing, planning, and inspecting the location, design, construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of all wastewater disposal systems. The Waco Metropolitan Area Regional Sewer System (WMARSS) is the City of Waco's wastewater treatment effort.
It serves Bellmead, Hewitt, Lacy Lakeview, Lorena, Robinson, Waco and Woodway. Stormwater from the City of Waco flows into these pipelines and eventually reaches Lake Waco, the North Bosque River, and the Brazos River.
